This unity holds us together in the midst of challenges, diversity, and even conflict and disagreement. Jeff points out that like a marriage that has survived conflict and trials, a church that has persevered through tough things and staying united in Christ is a strong one.

So many people have created or imagined images of what Jesus looked like. In the Old Testament, they believed seeing God was deadly or images of God were idolatrous. But then Jesus tells the Apostles that if they have seen him then they have seen the Father! Even more so, those who are his disciples will receive the Holy Spirit and begin to be transformed into the glory of God. People see Jesus and see God's glory in us, by the power of God's Spirit.

The word "abide" is in the New Testament 26 times. All of those are in John's books and 16 in the small book of 1 John. This word, which means to "dwell with" reminds us how important it is to spend time with Christ in prayer, Bible study, living obediently, and loving our brothers and sisters.
