What Jesus Can Do

Missio Dei #9: Our final sermon of the Missio Dei series focused on how we shouldn't worry about money or ministry because the power and authority behind all of that is rooted in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. So what is our role? We looked at the boy in John 6, who offered Jesus his five loaves and two fish as an example of faithful giving. The question for us today is, will you like that boy decide that whatever you have to give to Jesus can do more in his hands than in yours.

Missio Dei #8: Jeremiah preached this week on the incredible history of generosity Northwest has toward missions, specifically their work in Cameroon and now France. He also encouraged the church to excel even more by meeting the giving goal next week. He looked at many of the passages from Paul in the New Testament that focus on giving to missions and how God works through such gifts in the lives of the giver and the recipient.

Missio Dei #7: Guest Speaker Joe Gentry talked about how God has been present in his life and through his life. In big moments and little moments. Over and over again God has shown up and Joe has done his best to meet God and join him in every way. This incredible example shows us how we can join God's mission every day.

Missio Dei #5: As we officially kick off our March for Missions sermon series, we spent the first week reviewing what God has done through our missionaries over the last year and what is in store for the upcoming year. We heavily featured the Honduras mission effort with interviews from our missions which explored how they were blessed, where they saw God in Honduras, and the impact it had on them and others.

Human Bridges

Missio Dei #4: This week we are going to get very practical, discuss first steps to joining this mission, and issue a challenge to the members of Northwest. The major idea in this sermon is that Christians should be human bridges who bring God to the world through both their words and their actions, and who also bring the world to God through their words and by revealing God’s love. If we are all talk with no action the world isn’t interested. But if we are only action without connecting people to God and the church then we are no better than people doing court mandated community service. Our faith, words, and deeds should bring God to the world and the world to God.

Missio Dei #3: So far in the series we have introduced the idea that God’s desire to seek and save the lost is part of his larger plan to liberate and glorify the entire creation. In fact, the entire creation groans in anticipation of the fulfillment of this mission through his followers. Incredibly, God has chosen to do most of that work through the lives of Christians. So each of us has our own page in God’s story. But what happens when lots of Christians start catching a single shared vision of what God is up to in this world and start jumping on board. Jesus prayed that when God’s Kingdom came, his will would be done on earth as it is in Heaven. He taught that the Kingdom of Heaven is like salt, light, and yeast. They change and overcome everything they touch. This sermon will also use the example of Martin Luther King, Jr., his sermons, and the Christian movement he led in this country when Christians saw what God was doing and joined that mission.

My Page in God's Story

Missio Dei #2: We believe that God is on a mission to redeem and restore the entire creation and it is His good plan for God's glory to be revealed through the followers of Jesus Christ. This means that if you could read the entire story of God's mission in the world, each page would tell of the life of a Christian. So what does your page in God's story look like? What does it say and who needs to hear your story and how can you creatively tell them?

The Mission of God
Sunday Jan 06, 2019
Sunday Jan 06, 2019
Missio Dei #1: This Sunday will introduce the sermon series “Missio Dei: The Mission of God.” In John 14 we read that we are friends of Jesus because we know the business of the master, so this series will seek to help us know what God's business and mission really is. The bulk of the sermon will explore the mission of God described in Romans 8:16-29. God’s desire to seek and save the lost is part of his larger plan to liberate and glorify the entire creation. In fact, the entire creation groans in anticipation of the fulfillment of this mission. Incredibly, God calls on His people to join him in this mission as co-witnesses, co-heirs, and much more. God is on a mission. Will you join?
