God Be With You
Sunday Aug 11, 2019
Sunday Aug 11, 2019
Last week's lesson focused on the importance of casting off what hinders us and keeps us from growing during times of new beginnings and transition. This week focuses on how we can be confident when we step out where Jesus calls us to go, knowing that as long as we keep our eyes fixed on Christ and remain aware of God's presence in our life. This is powerfully illustrated in the story of Peter walking with Jesus on the water and Joshua's new leadership role leading up to the Conquest of Canaan. If we are confident of God's presence in our lives we can do great things too.

This first week focuses on the importance of leaving behind our bad habits, sins, and everything else that holds us back. Before we can walk into God's new future for us we have to cast off what hinders us. What's holding you back? Are you ready to let go?

Worth of Double Honor
Wednesday Jul 31, 2019
Wednesday Jul 31, 2019
(Guest Speaker) Bill Day talks about how in 1 Timothy 5:17 Paul writes that those shepherds or elders who are committed to serving the church in their role as teachers, leaders, and servants are worthy of double honor. While Paul probably had financial incentive in mind, the example is given to us today to recognize and honor three of our elders who have served for many years at Northwest.

Sunday Jul 14, 2019
Sunday Jul 14, 2019
Today (Guest Speaker) Bill Day gives us a mission report from his recent month in Athens, Greece. Bill is fluent in Greek, taught Romans at the Athens International Bible Institute, preached in several of the congregations, presented at a lectureship, and encouraged the local Christians. Through pictures, videos, and interviews, Bill introduced us to the work in Athens and helped the church to understand how those who send a missionary are partners and beneficiaries of the blessings of the trip.

It's Not About the Rules
Sunday Jul 07, 2019
Sunday Jul 07, 2019
In this sermon (Guest Speaker) Bill Day reflects on how the epistles provide us with helpful teaching, but it's often the Gospels that give us the best image of Jesus, who reveals God to us. This study on the lost coin and the prodigal son reveal that God is much more interested in loving us and having a relationship with us than just giving us a bunch of rules to live by.

When Your Children Ask
Sunday Jun 30, 2019
Sunday Jun 30, 2019
When the Hebrews were slaves in Egypt God heard the cries of his people and sent Moses to deliver them. But God also wanted to show the world that Yahweh is God and that any other deity is a false god...even Pharaoh. Once they were delivered from Egypt, they were to celebrate the Passover every year so that they could remember, experience, and teach a new generation of God's faithful deliverance. On one such Passover meal, Jesus changed the memorials, the symbols, the meaning to all of it and gave the Lord's Supper to the church so we could always remember Jesus Christ and our deliverance.

A Sabbath to Remember
Monday Jun 17, 2019
Monday Jun 17, 2019
In the US today, being busy has become the new status symbol that indicates somebody is successful, important, and wealthy. However, being exhausted from the toil of work is what the curse was upon Adam, not how Christians should be living today. While we are not required to observe the Sabbath, this study shows that there is a great blessing awaiting those who are willing to rest and remember all that God has done in the past, providing peace in the present and hope for the future.

Limitless
Sunday Jun 09, 2019
Sunday Jun 09, 2019
When we think about being stewards of God's resources, we often think about the limited resources like money and property. But what does it mean to be stewards of God's limitless gifts He gives us? The reality is that when it comes to God's love, forgiveness, and grace, there is no limit to how much God pours into us and no limit to how much God desires us to pour into others.

Upside Down Kingdom
Sunday Jun 02, 2019
Sunday Jun 02, 2019
In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus teaches that people who want to be his followers must hear his teachings and then put them into practice. Doing this will cause them to be internally transformed in a way that changes their outward behaviors and the fruit their lives produce. These Jesus followers will then be ready for life's storms, take the narrow path, and become a light to the world, which leads the world to give glory to God.

Spiritual Importance of Remembering
Sunday May 26, 2019
Sunday May 26, 2019
Over and over again the Bible instructs the people of God to remember God and all that he has done and then to tell those stories to younger generations. As Bildad advises Job, a person who does not seek the wisdom of older generations is like a plant without roots. It will die and be replaced. Kent then invited the kids up on stage to listen to stories of faith from Northwest that would teach them how important it is to learn from older Christians and gave challenges to our older and younger members.
